Love New Windows 7 HP64 - sound card Does not share the love

Postby Claudekrowe » Fri May 06, 2011 12:37 pm

We have finally freed our Home Desktop Tower PC from the clutches of Vista and Clean installed the slick Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit O-s. The downside, no sound, because our 5.1 generic card that worked in Vista does not work with the shiny new O-s. D'Oh

One of the down sides of modern technology I suppose ...

Any readers suggestions of help for me are most welcome & I have already discovered that my Motherboard On board audio has failed before anyone suggests that as a fix! tested with a ubuntu distro Disc.

I also had sound issues with Windows 7 64bit trying to get my sound to work with my onboard 7.1 channel Realtek HD audio system.

Some drivers worked from realtek and others didn't... if I install the latest driver for my audio, I have no sound again.. it's weird.

All I can suggest is Google problems with your sound, you will find many suggestions..

To put a full stop on this ... we found out about cheapie $20 - $29 USB Sound devices

Made in China (found at local computer geek store, not one of the large chain stores mind)

Works even if motherboard onboard sound is fried! Plug into USB, Windows 7 recognised it, plug speakers to green socket, all good again!! :)
